A Shopify store: 23% of Meta clicks were bots

Shopify e-commerce — unikor.shop

Bots blocked before the click, ahead of Shopify's own layer — roughly $100K a month of ad spend now protected.

The challenge

Shopify says it blocks bots, but its protection is not ad-click granular — it doesn't separate human from bot clicks on paid traffic. Bot detection went live on try.unikor.shop in May 2026. The store still had 23% bots on Facebook, 4% on Instagram and 19% on Google — 20–25% of the ad budget going to traffic Shopify never caught.

What we did

Bots blocked before the click, ahead of Shopify's own layer, so the ad platforms are not paid for them and the pixel never fires on a bot.

The results

  • 23% bots on Facebook, 4% on Instagram, 19% on Google
  • 20–25% of ad budget was being stolen by bots
  • Roughly $100K a month of ad spend now protected
