The challenge
78% of Facebook clicks and 71% of Instagram clicks were bots. The daily bot rate ran 60–90% — four out of five ad dollars were being wasted on bots. On Google, click fraud was being charged to the account with no way to prove it.
What we did
Bots blocked at the edge before the click is billed. Our blocked-click data — IP addresses and click IDs — was submitted to Google as evidence, and $212,000 in click fraud was credited back. As soon as blocking started, Meta began sending more real human clicks.
The results
- 78% bots on Facebook, 71% on Instagram
- 60–90% daily bot rate before blocking — four out of five dollars wasted on bots
- $212,000 in Google click fraud credited back
- Real human clicks rose as soon as blocking started
